This Halloween, we’ve been getting into the spirit of things and asking around the office what everyone’s favourite horror film is, and more importantly… why!

Here’s your chance to get to know the individuals behind the WDA brand a little more…

 

Gemma – Creative LeadSession 9 DVD cover

Gemma has admitted she does not scare easily, yet Session 9 sent chills down her spine, which is why it is her favourite horror film to date.

Tensions rise within an asbestos cleaning crew as they work in an abandoned mental hospital with a horrific past that seems to be coming back.

 

Will – Digital Marketing Executive Misery DVD cover

When asked which horror film is Will’s favourite, he couldn’t choose between 2 – Misery, or The Shining. Why are they his favourites? Will is a huge fan of Stephen King, and loves a classic film!

After a famous author is rescued from a car crash by a fan of his novels, he comes to realise that the care he is receiving is only the beginning of a nightmare of captivity and abuse.

 

Alex – Marketing & Design28 Weeks Later DVD cover

Alex was next up, when posed with the question “what is your favourite horror movie?” he responded with 28 Weeks Later. Why? “Just because it’s zombies. I’m not really spooked by films, however, terrified of snakes!”

Six months after the rage virus was inflicted on the population of Great Britain, the US Army helps to secure a small area of London for the survivors to repopulate and start again. But not everything goes according to plan.

 

Matt – Digital Marketing Manager      The Evil Dead DVD Cover

Matt loves his horror films, and claims there are “so many to choose from”, but he settled on The Evil Dead. When asked why, his response was: “It’s one of my more vivid memories from my childhood. Watched this and the sequels numerous times with my cousins and we’d go around the house pretending we were Ash!”. Fa-BOO-lous!

Five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.

 

Sun – Digital DesignerChild's Play 2 DVD Cover

Sun was very quick to respond with her favourite horror film – Child’s Play 2. When asked why, her response was simply, “It’s my nightmare!”.

While Andy’s mother is admitted to a psychiatric hospital, the young boy is placed in foster care, and Chucky, determined to claim Andy’s soul, is not far behind.

 

Ellis – Digital Marketing ExecutiveThe Woman in Black DVD Cover

Ellis admits she’s a bit of a wuss, and just hates horror films – unBOOlievable! She has watched one, once… The Woman in Black. She made her whole family watch it with her, and had fingers in her ears for the majority of the film – what a scaredy cat!!

A young solicitor travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.

 

Anna – New Business DevelopmentSalem's Lot DVD cover

Anna is much the same as Gemma and Alex – not easily scared. Her favourite horror film is Salem’s Lot, because “this one, although very old, always makes me feel uneasy.”

A novelist and a young horror fan attempt to save a small New England town which has been invaded by vampires.

 

Anne – Core Market ManagerThe Silence of the Lambs DVD cover

The Silence of the Lambs is Anne’s personal favourite horror film. She said, “I think Anthony Hopkins is superb in that role. I’m not a big horror fan really, but watching Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter really makes my skin crawl!”. Anne is also a fan of Misery.

Sarah – German Marketer/ CopywriterSilent Hill DVD cover

Sarah’s choice of horror film is Silent Hill. Why? Sarah said, “During the day, ashes rain down and there’s thick fog in Silent Hill. At nighttime, the monsters come, among them Lying Figure, Creepers, Bubble Head Nurse and Pyramid Head. What’s not to like?”.

A woman, Rose, goes in search for her adopted daughter within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill.

 

Lee – Founder of WDAThe Shining DVD cover

Lee’s choice of horror film would have to be The Shining. He claims, “it’s the best film ever made”.

A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future.
