Team WDA at 2009 Performance Industry Kart Endurance race.

WDA are proud to have been involved in the Performance Car Industries Annual Karting event on the 28th November at the Whilton Locks National Circuit.

With 20 teams comprising between 3 and 5 drivers, the 2 hour endurance format involved 9 mandatory pit stops shared equally between drivers. Lee Waterhouse put WDA on the front row with a quickish wet lap on cold tyres in qualifying, and whilst Kiel stifled tears at not being the quickest WDA driver; Patrick killed the kart.

With a fresh Twin engined BizKart WDA were able to start the race. And the drama intensified as Kiel misread a two fingered salute from pits to mean ‘come in after two more laps’. The resultant debacle had the rest of team WDA frantically scanning the circuit, sure Kiel had ‘had an off’, only to find him stood behind us grinning…..with the Kart sat driverless trackside.

6 wasted minutes later WDA had dropped from 2nd to 14th; however we managed to tear through the field (ignoring multiple contact warnings!) to get back up to 4th for a time before realising we had about 5 pitstops to make in as many minutes! We eventually placed 8th and are still arguing about whos fault that was.

Thanks again to Peter Dennis of The Performance Company for the invite, a great day was had by all (although WDA remain suspicious about the true identities of the winning Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines team who were putting in wet lap times faster than our dry ones!).
